Server Rules
These rules can and almost certainly will change.

General Server Rules
If you read only this, it should hopefully get you through your first few rounds without admins having to pay any attention to you.
0: Admins reserve the right to veto a rule.
Yes, the dreaded rule 0.
Admins may disregard any and all of these rules if they deem it to be in the best interest of the current round, the server, and/or the community at large. They will, of course, be fully accountable for their actions if they exercise this privilege.
Needless to say, if you feel the need to cite this rule to an admin, then you fucked up.
1: Don't be an asshole.
Seriously, being a dick to everyone just makes the server impossible to play on without drama.
Offensive or discriminatory language, both in-character and out-of-character, is not allowed. We're here to have a break from reality, let's not drag it's issues here.
If OOC conflict does occur, you are required to settle it as soon as possible, and without dragging it into public. Get an admin or mod involved if required.
Deliberate attempts to disrupt the game, cause harm to others, or ruin the enjoyment for other players will also not be tolerated.
2: Your character should be IC at all times.
Meta-gaming or breaking character is strictly prohibited. PDAs have leeway for situations that require it, just make sure to use double braces ((my OOC message here))
to mark it as so for other players, as your messages may be read in the telecomms room, your PDA, or via ghosting.
3: Your character should be grounded, in abilities, personality and lore.
This does unfortunately mean that your demi-god metahuman mass-murdering psychopath with 0 want to make friends indeed does not fit here. The abilities part doesn't apply so strictly to private scenes, though.
Characters must act realistically based on their role, abilities, and the situation. Actions should make sense in the context of the game world. Artea doesn't keep psychopaths on their stations for long.
Characters must be suitable for the game setting. They should not be based on real people, celebrities, or characters from other works of fiction.
4: Don't use information gained outside of in-character means as your character.
That means no meta-comming (telling people where you are in-game, etc.), stuff you've seen as a ghost, and messages sent in OOC/LOOC by others.
5: Don't say in character information OOCly until the round ends.
Mostly exists because people are infamously bad at not accidentally relaying OOC knowledge ICly. The exception to this is poking at admins if there's an issue on the server.
6: No powergaming.
The dreaded powergaming rule. Players must avoid powergaming. All characters have limitations and no one should act as if they're invincible or have knowledge beyond their character's scope.
7: Violence must be done with reason.
Engaging in violent or destructive behavior must have a roleplay justification. Random or unwarranted violence is prohibited. See rule 3.
8: Develop your characters, but not at other's expense.
Some actions should only be done with the explicit consent of the involved players, particularly actions that may have significant impact on other's characters' personal story.
For example, joining as a Corporate official of some kind, and telling a player's character their family is dead to further your own story, is poor taste.
BUT: Stuff that happens via mechanics in a round (see surgery as the main example), is not beholden to this rule, due to how rounds can play out. Come up with your own justifications for how that implant is now gone, or how you have a new non-prosthetic arm.
9: Help others improve.
Players are encouraged to provide feedback and constructive criticism about the game and any particular player's actions, but this should be done respectfully and outside of gameplay.
Reacting poorly to said criticism falls under rule 1.
10: The decisions of administrators are final.
If you have issues with admin decisions, bring them up in a respectful and appropriate manner in a ticket.
